Rust Console Commands: Player and Admin List
The most useful Rust console commands: player commands (FPS, FOV, binds, combatlog) and admin commands (kick, ban, teleport, noclip, god mode, spawn items).
Press F1 to open the console. Every player can use kill, perf 1, fps.limit, graphics.fov, combatlog and bind. Owners and moderators (granted with ownerid or moderatorid plus server.writecfg) also get kick, ban, teleport, noclip, god true, env.time and inventory.give. Rust's F1 console does a lot more than most players realize. Here are the commands that matter, for every player and for server admins.
⚙️ How to open the console
Press F1 in game. Type a command and press Enter. Commands are not case-sensitive. Some commands take a value (fps.limit 144), others are toggles (noclip).
⚙️ Player commands (work on any server)
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
kill | Respawn (suicide) when stuck |
perf 1 | Shows FPS (perf 2 adds memory, perf 0 hides it) |
fps.limit 144 | Caps your frame rate |
graphics.fov 90 | Sets field of view (max 90) |
client.connect IP:PORT | Joins a server directly |
combatlog | Shows your recent combat log (damage dealt and taken) |
bind [key] [command] | Binds a command to a key |
quit | Closes the game |
⚙️ Becoming an admin
Admin commands only work for owners and moderators. On your own server, in the server console:
ownerid 76561198XXXXXXXXX "YourName" "reason"
server.writecfg
Then reconnect. Full setup: How to host a Rust server. On a Rust server at LordHosting, the server console is available in the panel, from your browser.
⚙️ Admin commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
ownerid <SteamID64> "name" | Grants full admin |
moderatorid <SteamID64> "name" | Grants moderator |
removeowner <SteamID64> | Removes admin |
server.writecfg | Saves admin changes |
kick "name" "reason" | Kicks a player |
ban "name" "reason" | Bans a player |
unban <SteamID64> | Removes a ban |
banlist | Lists banned players |
say "message" | Message to the whole server |
server.save | Saves the world now |
teleport "name" | Teleports you to a player |
teleport "name1" "name2" | Teleports player 1 to player 2 |
noclip | Fly through everything |
god true | God mode |
debugcamera | Free camera |
spectate | Spectate players |
env.time 12 | Sets time of day (12 = noon) |
inventory.give "item" 100 | Gives yourself an item (use item short names, e.g. wood) |
quit | Saves and shuts down the server |
Most admins bind noclip and debugcamera to keys, e.g. bind v noclip. Permissions for plugins (Oxide groups, kits, teleport) are a separate system: see How to install Oxide and Rust plugins.
⚙️ Ready-to-paste configuration
The player binds most admins set once, to type into the F1 console. They are saved in your client config and persist between sessions.
// Admin tools on keys
bind v noclip
bind p debugcamera
bind o "god true"
bind l "god false"
// Comfort
bind f7 "perf 1"
bind f8 "perf 0"
bind f9 combatlog
fps.limit 144
graphics.fov 90
To remove a bind, type bind v "".
✅ Conclusion
Player commands make the game more comfortable, admin commands run the server. Remember the two rules: admin rights come from ownerid plus server.writecfg, and every bind is a command you no longer have to type.
